Betty R. Charles, 68, of Lafayette, died unexpectedly Sunday, November 25, 2012, at her residence. She was born August 16, 1944, in Kewanee, Ill., to the late Robert and Betty Geib Fairman. She graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1962. Her marriage was to Richard Charles in 1965. They were married for 25 years and remain very good friends. Betty had a day care, “Kiddie Kastle Daycare”, for 25 years. She then went to work for Lafayette Savings Bank retiring as Assistant Manager in 2011. She had been receptionist at In Style Studio since 2011. She was a member of H and Hers cruise group and gained many friends and stories from her travels. She also enjoyed scrapbooking. Most of all, though, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family. She cherished every moment she got to spend with her kids and grandkids. Surviving are her children; Deanna Roadruck, Brent Charles and Dawn Charles (boyfriend Tony Stinson), of Lafayette, Brian Charles (wife Yuli), of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, Robert Fairman Jr. (wife Mary), of Enon, Ohio, Randall Fairman (wife Korryn), of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; Josh (wife Monica), and Seth Roadruck, Daniel, Olivia and Kaylyn Charles, Anthony and Arianet Garcia. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., with family reflections at 8 p.m., on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. A private family entombment will take place at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
