I always enjoyed talking to Bentley. While I was not fortunate enough to spend a considerable amount of time with Bentley over the years would we meet occasionally prior to a Purdue football game or at a reunion after high school and college. When I did talk to Bentley I found a conversation with him was deep and passionate. That is what I liked about him. Those were moments that you cannot get with a social media post....you just have to be there with him. One quick story...Bentley, myself and a few other friends from Lafayette Jeff were out one Friday night after a football game in college. The night was in its prime and I had a few beers already and mentioned to Bentley that I should probably get something to eat. Bentley pointed out that beer had a lot of carbohydrates in it so I should just keep drinking those. You have to remember this was really before anyone really looked at a nutrition label. Bentley's advice seemed clear and reasonable so I took it. That night did not end well for me. I've told him that story and he loved it. May his close family and friends take solace in the love and support that they get from each other during this difficult time. Rob Harlan

So sad to hear of Bentley's passing. May God be with the family and grant them comfort and peace in their time of grief. I loved serving with hom in the Navy. It was wonderful seeing him again at our reunion. He will be greatly missed.
