Barbara Jean Skinkle, 85, of Lafayette, passed away unexpectedly at 10:34 pm Monday, July 18, 2016 at her residence.
She was born January 23, 1931, in Lafayette, to the late Ray and Sylvia Frances McRae Skinkle.
Barbara graduated from Wea High School in 1949 and went to work for Lafayette Dental Lab for over 46 years before retiring.
She was a member of Romney United Methodist Church where she served as the church organist for over 60 years and also taught Sunday School. Barbara was an active volunteer and played the organ at the Tippecanoe County Senior Center and loved country music and playing euchre and bingo.
Surviving are siblings, Betty Hawkins of Lafayette, Jack Skinkle of Carrollton, TX, Carol Piris (Andy), Patricia Muston, Larry Muston and Chuck Muston all of Lafayette a niece, Peggy Rich of Crawfordsville and a cousin, Adam Fagan of Florida both whom were raised in her home, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bud and Tim Skinkle.
Friends and family may call at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Romney United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Chuck Tague officiating.
In lieu of flowers those wishing may contribute to Romney United Methodist Church or the Senior Center @ Jenks Rest.
