Barbara J. White

June 5, 1938 - September 3, 2022

Barbara J. White, 84, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at St. Anthony Health Care.  She was born June 5, 1938, in Covington, IN, to the late Leland and Pauline (Middleton) Barnes.  Barbara graduated from Covington High School in 1956 and on April 29, 1961, she married Arley D. White in Danville, IL and he preceded her in death on December 9, 2017.   Barbara was a retired Self Storage Manager.

She was truly happiest when she was in the kitchen cooking.  Barb thoroughly enjoyed cooking for her family. She also enjoyed cooking for friends, neighbors and giving the food away.  Barb always made sure you left her with leftovers. She also enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids and family.

Surviving are her sons Alan (Julie) White, Randy (Elizabeth ” Buffy”) White, grandchildren Aaron (Jessica) White, Abby (Ross) Columbia, Justin (Brittany) Cooley, great grandchildren Grace and Dash Cooley.  Also surviving are her sisters Charlotte (Jerry) Crain, Theda Mae Goodrich, and Bea Hussman.  She was preceded in death by sibling’s Bobby Barnes and Betty Hoagland.  As per Barbara’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service.  She asks that donations be made in her name to Western Indiana Community Foundation, PO Box 175, Covington, IN 47932.
