Barbara Anne (Eylens) McFarland
1945-2026
With a heart full of faith, love and strength, Barbara Anne McFarland, 81, of Battle Ground, Indiana, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord on June 28, 2026. Born on March 6, 1945, in Lafayette, Indiana, she was a proud graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and lived a life devoted to serving God, loving her family, and caring for others.
Barbara shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life, Al McFarland. Together they built a home where everyone felt welcome—a place filled with faith, laughter, unconditional love, and countless cherished memories.
Barb is survived by husband, Albert; beloved daughters, Melissa (Stacy) Abernathy, Tricia (Doug) Miller, and Katie (John) Loyer; proud grandmother of Charlie, Sam (Jodi), Allie (Aaron), Grace, Shelby (Jon), Tate (Emily), Foster, Fletcher, and Jersey; and adoring great-grandmother of Graham, Reagan, Byard, Booker, Stratton, Thomas, Willow, Saga, Ollie, Addie, and Noah; sisters Bonnie (Mike) Alting, Beth (Todd) Shoop; brother Joe (Judy) Eylens; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Patricia Eylens; brother, Robert “Jolly” Eylens; Parents-in-Law, Charles and Martha (Ramsey) McFarland.
Barbara found joy in the simple blessings of life—family, flowers, and fishing. At home on the river, she felt closest to God while tending her flowers or casting a line.
She was one of a kind with a contagious humor, say it like it is attitude and unique ability to make everyone feel loved and valued. Her home was a safe-haven, her kindness knew no bounds, and her servant’s heart touched countless lives. She was also her family’s biggest fan! Nothing made her happier than cheering on her children and grandchildren, especially wearing gold and black while proudly cheering on her beloved grandson Fletcher and the Boilers.
Barbara’s legacy is one of unwavering faith, selfless love, generosity, and grace. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing she is home with her Savior and that her love will continue to live on through the family she cherished so deeply.
