Barbara Ann Becker, 72, of Battle Ground, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 22, 1937, in Logansport, to the late Harvey and Elizabeth McPherson Zellers. She graduated from Logansport High School in 1955 and later from Indiana Business College.
On Sept. 26, 1959, she married Ronald P. Becker in Lafayette, and he survives.
Mrs. Becker retired from Purdue General Stores in 2000 and worked for Howe House Limited Editions since 1981. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi where she was crowned Queen of the Yellow Rose Ball, and was past president of the Roosevelt Roads Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She also was Queen of the Seabee Ball in Puerto Rico in 1961.
She played flute and piccolo in the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra and enjoyed bowling, reading, traveling, baby-sitting and word puzzles. Also, she spent 30 years researching the genealogy of her family and that of her husband&s.
Mrs. Becker enjoyed volunteering for the Voyageur Fife and Drum Corps from 1978 to 1988 and was the business manager of the Tippecanoe Ancient Fife and Drum Corps since 1981. She also volunteered with the March of Dimes, United Way, Reading Olympics and Cub Scouts.
Surviving along with her husband are three daughters, Deidre Duncan (husband: W. Malcolm) and Cecelia McAllister (husband: Robert Jr.), both of Battle Ground, and Anita Callender (husband: W. Andrew) of Kingsville, Mo.; two sons Gregory Becker (wife: Angelica) of Austin, Texas, and Clark Becker of Springfield, Va.; a brother Richard Zellers (wife: Ann) of Lafayette; and two sisters, Linda Edwards (husband: Gerald) of Lafayette and Janna Farrell (husband: Daniel) of Panama City Beach, Fla.
Also surviving are 8 grandchildren: Zachary, Alexa, Adrian, Jacob, Shanley, Isabelle, Hallie and Vincent, a great-grandchild, 9 nieces and nephews, 15 great-nieces and nephews and 1 great-great-niece and 1 great-great-nephew.
Visitation will be 2 hours prior to an 11 a.m. service Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Pkwy. W., West Lafayette, with Fr. Christopher Shocklee officiating. Burial at Tippecanoe Memorial Gardens. Those who wish may contribute to the March of Dimes.
