B. Jean Wichterman, 82, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Franciscan Health Lafayette. She was born August 15, 1943, in New Castle, IN, to the late Earl and Juanita (Walker) Rector.  Jean was a graduate of Hagerstown High School and in 1961 she married Chris Wichterman in Hagerstown and he preceded her in death in 1993.  Jean was an administrative assistant in the Office of the Registrar at Purdue University for several years before retirement.

She was a member of Faith Church, a guest writer for the opinion page of The Journal & Courier, and The Red Hat Society.  Jean enjoyed crocheting, painting, scrapbooking, and socializing with friends and family.

Surviving her children Tammy (Chris) Piske of Burlington, IN, Jeff Wichterman of Jeffersonville, IN, grandchildren Betsy Shaw, Katie Albaugh, Bailey Goodale, Zachary Wichterman, Alex Wichterman and great-grandchildren Jerome, Reagen, Lola, Marshal, Delilah and Layla.

Jean was preceded in death by her daughter Tonya R. Mull, siblings Sherrill Williams, Robert Rector, and a great-grandchild Bohdan Driscoll.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd.
