Anita Ruth Barker, 88, of Royal Center, formerly of Clark’s Hill, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Glasswater Creek of Lafayette.
She was born June 17, 1937, in Clarks Hill to the late Lloyd R. and Cloe (Fleming) Platt. She was a 1955 graduate of Clarks Hill High School and had a career as a meat cutter for A+P formerly Kmart Foods, and also for a store in Monticello. On June 17, 1956, Anita married Norman Peters, the 2 later divorced and on January 25, 1997, Anita married Frank L. Barker in Yuma, AZ. Frank preceded her in death on December 7, 2019.
Anita was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. She loved going camping and also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, completing puzzles and search and find puzzles, and debating with her sons-in-law. Frank and Anita loved wintering in Arizona for many years.
She is survived by 3 children, Kevin (Aretha) Peters of Dover, NC, MaryAnne (Walter) Rader of Royal Center, and Marsha (Dwaine) Hufford of Mulberry; son-in-law, Mike Rice; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Along with her husband Frank, and her parents, Lloyd and Cloe, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Rice; sister, Pluma Cornell; brother, Glenn Platt; grandson, Derek Hufford; and great-grandson, Braxton Peters, and first husband, Norman Peters.
Memorial contributions in Anita’s name may be given to Good Shepherd Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909 with Pastor Terry Chase officiating.
Interment will follow at Wyandotte Cemetery, 4811 Dayton Rd., Dayton, IN 47941.
