Anita Webb, age 89 of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026. The daughter of Ernest and Marjorie Barche, and younger sister of Melvin, Anita was born in 1936 in Olney, Illinois. At Richland Memorial High School, Anita was a certified sharpshooter and the only girl on the school’s Rifle Team. A highlight of her youth was singing “Blue Moon” on the local radio station.
From childhood Anita was involved with her church, making a profession of faith in Christ during her teens. She was a long-standing member of Brady Lane Church (Lafayette), volunteering in many capacities.
Throughout her life Anita was particularly known for her creative abilities. She was a gifted cook and baker. She was a trained Wilton cake decorator and shared those skills freely, making multi-tiered cakes for weddings, graduations, confirmations, and birthdays. In her later years she was renowned for her flower arranging, making the flowers for her grandson’s wedding, doing flower arrangements as a volunteer at Franciscan Health Lafayette, and donating arrangements as gifts at Glasswater Creek of Lafayette. Other distinctive hobbies included crocheting and word search puzzles.
She was a doting mother and grandmother, investing many hours in the lives of her family. She is survived by her daughters, Marjorie and Amanda, as well as two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
