Amelia Mimi Hampton, 82, of Lafayette, passed away at 11:30 AM Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Indiana University Health Arnett.
She was born May 5, 1929, in Lafayette, to the late Fern Haley Tipton.
She attended Lafayette Jefferson High School.
On August 17, 1946 she married Herman Leroy Hampton in Lafayette and he survives.
Amelia was a division Manager for Sears for 28 years then worked for Meijer and Sams Club.
She enjoyed bowling in her younger years, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Surviving along with her Husband are three sons Steve Hampton (wife Betty) of Coatsville, Paul Tipton (wife Leslie) of Colfax, Don Tipton (wife Helen) of Eugene, OR; two daughters Candance Craig (husband Skeet) and Trudy Jarrard (husband Jerry) both of Lafayette, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Jefty Lynn Hampton.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 pm Thursday December 29, 2011 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN 47909 followed by an 11:00 am Graveside service Friday, December 30, 2011 at West Point Cemetery with Pastor Joe Bell Officiating.
