Allen E. Orr

Allen E. Orr, 87, of Lafayette, IN passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018. He was born and raised in Hamlet, IN. Allen graduated from Purdue University with a degree in AG Economics in 1954. After a 21-month ROTC tour of duty as a US Army Officer, he moved to Huntington, IN. Allen worked for Halderman Farm Management Service for 11 years. He then moved to West Lafayette in 1967 to spend 9 years as a Field Marketing Rep for CIBA Geigy before starting his own business, Allen Orr Farm Real-Estate in May 1976.

Allen’s first marriage was to Patricia Rusk in August 1953. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Peggy (Swing) Orr, daughter Cynthia (Orr) Cohn and husband Robert, daughter-in-law Sakurako Orr, three grand-children, four great grand-children, and family of wife Peggy. Allen was preceded in death by his son Thomas K. Orr.

Allen loved spending time with his family, golfing, and putting his clients’ needs first. He thoroughly enjoyed engaging in conversation about life and was passionate about sharing his life experiences in person and through his writings.  Allen will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the time of the service at 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd.  Private inurnment at Meadow View Cemetery.  Memorials contributions can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice, in Allen’s memory.   You may sign the guest book and leave memories at www.soller-baker.com.
