Alice S. Steckel, 95, of West Lafayette, IN, died at 9:00 am Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus. She was born January 19, 1921, in Earl Park, to the late Nye M. and Dorothy M. Copas Smith. Alice graduated from Fowler High School class of 1939 and on June 20,1944 she married Charles Dwight Steckel and he has since passed away. She was a a charter member of the Federated Church in West Lafayette. Alice worked at Farmer’s Home Administration and at Purdue University. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, scrabble, bingo and bowling. Alice will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her children LouAnn Steckel (Lynnette R. Biviano) of West Lafayette, Charles Dean Steckel of Grand Junction, CO, grandchildren Brindon Dean Steckel, Brooke Marie Steckel Lucas (husband Brady Lucas), great grandchildren, Damion Dean Steckel, Dyer Rain Steckel, Gwen Marie Lucas, Taryn Christine Lucas and Zane Lafayette Lucas. Alice was preceded in death by her husband C. Dwight Steckel, a sister Mary Ruth Wilkinson and a brother William Martin Smith. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 am-11:00 am at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West. Service will be 11:00 am Thursday at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, Rev. John Williams officiating. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
