Alan Butch Weaver

Alan L. “Butch” Weaver, 63, of Lafayette, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at Clarian Arnett Hospital, after a short illness with Mesothelioma.
Born April 12, 1946, in Lafayette, he was the son of Wilbur “Dutch” Weaver of West Lafayette and the late Ethel “Pat” Leslie Weaver. He graduated from Klondike High School in 1964 and served in the Army.
On June 22, 1984, he married Cheryl Erwin Bender in Lafayette, and she survives.
Mr. Weaver was an electrician for Caterpillar for 19 years, retiring in July 2006. He had previously worked at Rostone for 23 years.
He enjoyed golf, raising horses, bowling and showing his 1965 Plymouth Satellite convertible.
Surviving with his wife and father are his daughters, Karen J. Halter of Vincennes and Elizabeth M. Thompson (husband: Chad) of Terre Haute; a brother, Larry Weaver (wife: Shirley) of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a sister, JeanAnn VanSchepen (husband: Jim) of West Lafayette.
Butch enjoyed spending time with his 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Addyson and McKinsie Halter, Tialy and Tyler Thompson. Butch was a MOPAR Car fan and thought the only vehicle worth owning was a MOPAR, and loved being retired and hanging out at Mary Lou Donuts.
Visitation from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., the Rev. Jack Scott officiating. Interment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Matthew 25: Share and Care Soup Kitchen.

I am deeply saddened at the sudden loss of Butch. I truely enjoyed Butch&s company at the Ravines and his competitive spirit when I was blessed to to be matched with him.

When Butch wasn&t playing, he would always take the time to walk over to offer a greeting and talk a bit.

I went to high school with Butch and played golf with "the group" at The Ravines for a few years before moving to Texas. I miss Butch&s great smile and energy. He was a wonderful guy. I&m so sorry for your loss.
