Abbey was born to Catherine Louise and Wesley Lynn Lods on August 28, 1960. She was preceded by her sister Julie, brother Scott, and followed by her sister Stephanie. Although Abbey was not born first, she was never a follower. Even at a young age, she proved herself a strong person, chasing her older brother around with menace in her eyes. Abbey was very close with her siblings, and this relationship persisted her entire life, providing a source of strength and ever-present love and support.
She went on to have three sons, AJ, Chase, and Calvin Hill. These three ornery boys became the focus of her love and attention, as she gave them the best childhood any boy could ask for. Raising three rambunctious kids wasn’t enough of a challenge for Abbey. She took her love of horseback riding to the extreme, winning Registered Merit in Showmanship and Trail with her horse Andy (aka Walking in Rhythm) in the Indiana Quarter Horse Association. Abbey’s achievements extended to being placed on a magazine cover and earning state-level awards. Still not satisfied, she went to the National Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, OH, placing 6th overall.
More challenges came Abbey’s way as her children began creating offspring. She became Nana to Taylor, Samantha, Naveen, Luke, Addison, Delaney, Harper, and Abigail. Abbey, self-employed most of her life, later went back to school, changing career paths to become a successful esthetician.
Abbey is survived by her loving partner, Jeff Greiner, and her two dogs Zeus and Gadget. Her son Chase, her brother Greg, and her father Wes were waiting for her with open arms on the other side. Abbey will be greatly missed by so many, with her generous heart and eagerness to help anyone who needed it. Her love was boundless.
