Wilma J. (Clingerman) Dexter Clapp, 94, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at The Springs in Lafayette.
She was born July 12, 1929, to the late Willard and Veva (Langdon) Clingerman.
Wilma graduated from Montmorenci High School and worked as a banker for Bank One for 35 years before retiring in 1996.
Wilma was married to Harry D. Clapp, they divorced and she married Jim Dexter. After her divorce from Jim she remarried Harry Clapp before he passed away in 2009.
She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and the 40&8 and enjoyed playing golf, bowling and traveling.
Surviving are two nieces, Karen (Marcia Heishman) Nichols of Lafayette and Phyllis (Andrew) Kasowski of KS, a nephew, Tom (Nancy) Norfleet of WV, a half-sister, Sandra Loveless and two great nephews, John Kasowski and Greg Norfleet and a great niece, Laura Norfleet.
Wilma was preceded in death by three brothers.
A memorial service will be at held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, with Chaplain David McKinney officiating. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.
Memorial contributions may be made in Wilma’s name to Montmorenci Alumni Association or the American Cancer society.
