Wendi Lord Capehart passed away February 1, 2022. Born in March 1962 to Floyd Lord and Jane (Tullis) Lord, Wendi spent her childhood years in the US & Canada before marrying Bill Capehart in 1982. She spent the next 20 years traveling the world as a military spouse, practicing hospitality everywhere she went. Spending close to 1/4 of her life outside the US, Wendi celebrated the culture of every country she had the joy of experiencing. Her most recent international adventure was living for 2 years in the Philippines. After returning to Indiana, she lived with her daughter Angel. Angel preceded her in death & we are so happy for the joy of their reunion in Heaven.

Wendi’s lifelong love of learning led her to deep work within the Charlotte Mason community, especially as a founding member of Ambleside Online. She loved education not for the sake of facts memorized, but for connecting children with the Creator. This faith in Christ kept her grounded through many challenges & helped her reach the final finish line, surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses.

She is survived by 6 other children who loved her dearly – Nicole (Mark) Ramsey, Kristin (Jeremy) Hopper, Angel, Krystal (Markus) Ried, Rebecca (Logan) Judy, LauraJane (Chad) Mussche, and Will Capehart. She is also survived by her mother, Jane Lord, two brothers (Stephen & Philip Lord), & 16 grandchildren, who were her joy & delight.

I always loved and cherished Wendi, and my heart is greatly saddened at her passing. I feel sure that she is with our Lord Jesus, and He is enjoying her wonderful sense of humor and wit. I pray the Lord's peace for all of her family.

We are so grateful and thankful to God almighty to meet them and mingle with sister Wendi, Brother Bill, Brother Will and Angel here in Davao City Philippines. Many great memories with my wife Reza of sister Wendi will never be forgotten including Angel. We see the humble, caring and loving mother. We miss you.

I am so sorry to hear of Wendi’s passing. She was a great influence in my homeschooling endeavors and provoked my thoughts on imagination in ways that have deepened my relationship and my children’s relationship with our Creator (even though I only met her once!). May you all be blessed by the sweet memories you have with Wendi. I “imagine” she is telling stories, reciting poetry and singing songs in heaven! Love and hugs to all her family and those who are grieving her loss.

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one, Wendy...we only knew her ad a faithful Christian friend, but were not close to her. We are praying for all family members for comfort, as we know and love her children.

I never met Wendi in person, but through Ambleside Online. Her commitment to an "education for all" has changed my life and the lives of my children. She was accessible, brilliant, articulate, and generous in so many ways. I'm eternally grateful and so very sad to hear of her passing. I offer my deepest condolences and prayers for her family. May God's peace be with you all.

Dear Wendi, We still remember the first day meeting in Davao. Still remember how you shared love to us. It is sad to say good bye but we look forward seeing you again in the Kingdom of God. We sincerely appreciate the time you invested in our relationships.

I am so sorry to hear about Wendi's and Angel's passing, for the sake of her family members and friends who will undoubtedly miss her a LOT. I've only known her online, not in real life, but I've always enjoyed Wendi's wit and passion. She wrote a detailed instruction list many years ago about how to do a load of laundry, and it made me laugh out loud! I can't wait to meet her one day, in REAL LIFE.

I loved Wendi. We met years ago through our online writings and shared many emails back and forth, in which she encouraged me in parenting, homeschooling, Christianity, and so much more. She truly was an inspiration to me in every way I can think of. I am deeply sorry for the family's enormous loss.

I, Yumiko and the kids all very much appreciate the love, patience and hospitality given us by Wendi. Our condolences to you all. Love you.
