Morlan Jr. and Clara W. Morlan, the family spent several years in Southern Illinois before settling in Lafayette where he graduated from Jefferson High School in 1964 and received a BS in Economics from Purdue University in 1969. In April 1967 he married his beloved wife Nancy (Trice), who survives. Together they raised three children in West Lafayette. After founding R.E. Research Associates in 1977, Tom led a distinguished career as a Real Estate Appraiser and Consultant. He was a mentor and inspiration to many throughout the profession. He was very involved in state and national teaching and leadership positions of the Appraisal Institute, including past member of the National Board of Directors and most recently Secretary/Treasurer for the Hoosier State Chapter. He also served in several key positions of the predecessor organization, The Society of Real Estate Appraisers and was a founding member of the CRI (Chartered Realty Investor Society). Tom was very involved in service to his community and church, as a past member of the Board of Trustees for The Federated Church and most recently as a member of the Endowment Board. He also mentored many young people throughout the community. He will be greatly missed by his friends, colleagues and family, including wife Nancy, and their three children, Michelle Morlan and husband Matthew Flickinger, Melissa McTague and husband Sean, and son Tom Morlan, IV and wife Erica. He also leaves behind six energetic grandchildren (Lindsey, Logan and Lily McTague, and Kade, Haven and Kohen Morlan). He is also survived by his sister, LaDonna Shorter of Lafayette. Visitation will be held at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel on Tuesday 9/13, 5-8PM. A memorial service will take place at The Federated Church in West Lafayette on Wednesday 9/14 at 11AM, followed by interment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. The family kindly requests no flowers. You may contribute in his memory to either Lafayette Urban Ministries, The Community Cancer Network or The Federated Church.
