Nancy Kay Deaton, 79, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at St. Anthony Health Care.

She was born April 25, 1942, in Lafayette, to the late Guy Randolph and Lorraine Mildred Dailey McKinniss. She was a 1960 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School.  On August 6, 1960, she married. Hobert “Hobe” Deaton and he passed away October 16, 2020.

Nancy worked as a Clerk for Purdue University Sponsored Program Services from 1989-2010. She enjoyed flower arranging and playing cards with the same card club for over 20 years. Nancy loved her dogs Buster and Charlie. She also cherished her family and grandchildren and the time she spent with them. Nancy will truly be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Rex (Gloria) Deaton of Lafayette, James (Brenda) Deaton of West Lafayette, Hobie (Beth) Deaton of Lafayette, and Marsha (Randy) Angstadt of West Lafayette; 3 siblings, Bob (Loretta) McKinniss of Edna Mills, Sandi (Tony) Sidio of Oswego, IL, and Mary (companion Rick Wellner) Corwin of Lafayette; 6 grandchildren, Casey (Jason) Biddinger, Haley (Nick) Stacy, Davis Deaton, Hope (Jamison) Sanders, Haden (Haley) Deaton, and Maddie Deaton; and 6 great-grandchildren, Chase, Charly, Jamison, Isla, Tatum, and Madden.

Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s name to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Visitation will be from 11:30 am until time of service at 1:30 pm, Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Soller- Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. Officiating Pastor Brittany Neal.

Interment will follow at Meadow View Cemetery, 3733 Poland Hill Rd., Lafayette, IN 47909.

I worked with Nancy at Purdue for 9 years. She was loved by all. Such a sweet lady. She made me a Christmas flower basket so I think of her each season when I get it out. And on her birthday I think of her because I have a granddaughter born that day. I'm so sorry for your loss, she faithfully pushed through multiple health issues and bounced back strong each time. Nancy clearly loved her family very much. I knew Marsha from Purdue and Brenda and I met a couple times through Mary Kay. Actually, Hobe replaced a bathroom vanity for us several years ago. I have wonderful memories of our time together at Purdue. I pray your memories bring you peace.
