Michael Stephen Handley, 71, of West Lafayette passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette.
He was born August 14, 1950, in Bakersfield, CA to the late Glenn Garlin and Claudie Bell (Anderson) Handley. He was a graduate of Sparks High School in Sparks, NV and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. On March 19, 1970, he married his soulmate, Ava May Tyler in Reno, Nevada. Ava and Michael were life-long friends and had the truest love anyone could hope for. This year they would have been married 52 years. Michael worked as an electronics technician until his retirement.
Michael was a family man and cherished each day with his family. He was also a problem solver, solving all types of problems for various things, such as cars and computers, but he could solve essentially any problem thrown his way. Michael was also a very giving and kind man. He would literally give you the “shirt off his back” and never expect anything for it. He was simply a good man. He will be missed by so many!
Along with his wife, Ava, he is survived by 3 children, Kathleen, Karin (Timothy) , and Glenn (Heather);7 grandchildren, Christian, Raymond (Delaney), Destiny (Stephen), Timothy, Brittany (Alex), Alexis, and Pearl; and 7 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Haley, AJ, Jeremiah, Jordan, Michael Stephen, and Kylan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Claudie; 5 children, Anthony, Seth, Michael Jr., Michael II, and Mary Jo; and 20 siblings.
