A Celebration of Life will be held at his son’s house at 1409 Holly Drive Lafayette, Indiana.

Michael Allen Gentry, 63, passed peacefully Saturday, August 28, 2021 after a valiant three year battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by his family at St. Elizabeth East for his final earthly moments with us.

Michael was born December 26, 1957 to Hascal and Anita Gentry of Huntingburg, Indiana. He was one of 10 children. After attending Southridge High School, he went on to marry the love of his life Jo Annette Gentry (Leibering) on November 5th, 1977.

Michael was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, an amazing gardener, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Listening to them play their violin and cello, together if he could persuade them.

Surviving are his beloved wife and best friend, Jo Annette Gentry originally of Huntinburg, IN, now residing in Lafayette, IN. Son, Nakia Michael Gentry (wife Amanda, children Elias and Isabella) and daughter Jetona Michelle Gentry, both of Lafayette, IN. His brothers Tim Gentry and Brad (Kristina) Gentry. His sisters Karen Pickett, Nancy Severs, Debbie Bland, and Kimberly Gentry

Michael is preceded in death by his sisters Rebecca Gentry and Linda Grooms and brother Matthew Gentry.

A celebration of life will be held at his son, Nakia’s, house on September 18th from 2-5. His address is 1409 Holly Drive Lafayette, IN.
