John C. Brooks, 91, of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus.  He was born July 30, 1932, in Vermillion County, IL, to the late John C. and Mae (McBride) Brooks.

John graduated from Hoopeston High School and attended the University of IL. He was a veteran of the Army serving in the Korean War.

John worked for Schwab Safe for 35 years and retired in 1994.  He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and enjoyed bowling and golf.

Surviving are his children Cynthia J. Jennings, Brad P. (Heather) Brooks, Ann M. (Scot) Benham all of Lafayette and his companion Judie Watts.  Also surviving are his grandchildren Nicole, Stephanie, Eric, Jessica, Keaton, Brooks, Brandon and 16 great grandchildren.  John was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at St. James Lutheran Church, Pastor Ed Morrow officiating.  Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Lafayette, IN.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church in John’s memory.
