Jonathan J. Bennett, 62, of Lafayette, died of natural causes on October 8 at his home. Jonathan was born on June 2, 1962, to the late William K. Bennett and Mary E. Bennett. He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson high school in 1982 and attended Butler University, where he studied music.
Jonathan is survived by his older brothers, Mike Bennett of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Roger Bennett of Lafayette, and Mark Bennett of Grand Prairie, Texas, by his violin teacher of 40 years, Raye Pankratz of Indianapolis, who was as close as family, and by 7 nieces and nephews and their children.
Jonathan was a professional violinist who played in the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra and also played in the past for the South Bend Symphony Orchestra and the Springfield Illinois Symphony Orchestra.
He was a lifetime member of Evangelical Covenant Church, and was confident that to be absent from the body was to be present with Christ — a presence he longed for and now enjoys.
Visitation will be 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Pastor Stacey Littlefield officiating.
