Jeremiah “Jerry” Shepard, 45, of Lafayette, passed away in his home on February 12, 2023.
He was born September 8, 1977, in Lafayette, son of Ernest Shepard, Sr. and Grace (Weaver) Green.
Jeremiah graduated from McCutcheon High School in 1995. He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Graphics Technology and Organizational Leadership and Supervision from Purdue in 2000. He then earned his Associate of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 2004.
In 2002, Jeremiah met Kristina (Rasmussen) Kinslow and they married on June 7, 2009. They welcomed their daughter on November 14, 2009.
Jeremiah enjoyed fishing, camping, floating, and walking trails with his wife and children.
Jeremiah had many accomplishments in his career as an engineer. While working for Prosolia, he was the Design and Production Leader on the research team for Professor R. Graham Cook’s fingerprint analysis tool, “DESI”. DESI was used on the November 24, 2008, episode of CSI: Miami. While working for Raybestos Powertrain, He managed the design and specifications of SAE#2 Dynamometer. Jeremiah designed a new replacement cover, which he holds a patent. At Purdue, he worked on Pulse Jet Rocket Engine Fabrication with Boeing and Purdue Aero and Astro Department. Even with his full-time job, Jeremiah also found time to open his own business, Ideal Engineering Solutions. He worked with NASA and the Horticulture Department at Purdue to design, fabricate and install turnkey experimental hardware to control plant photosynthesis and growth.
Along with his wife, Kristina Shepard, he is survived by his parents, Ernest (Diane) Shepard Sr. of Lafayette and Grace (Bob) Green of Monticello; brother, Ernest (Jonnie) Shepard Jr.; 2 sisters, Hannah Lindsey- Green and Madison Lindsey-Green of Monticello; 2 daughters, Chelsey (Antonio) Kinslow and Elizabeth Shepard, both of Lafayette; a son, Darrell Kinslow of Lafayette; nephew, Jacob (McKenzie) Norwell of Monticello; 2 niece’s, Pamela Jackson of Rochester and Grace Shepard of Lafayette; 3 great-nephews, Brayten Fergueson and Kayllum Blue of Rochester and Jarrett Norwell of Monticello.
Jeremiah was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Frank and Eva Weaver and paternal grandparents, Jessie and Lucy Shepard.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm (noon), February 22, 2023, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909, with Rev. Joseph Park Jr. officiating.
Interment to follow at Meadow View Cemetery, 3733 Poland Hill Rd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
