Janet S. Hayden

Janet S. Hayden, 78, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, January 17, 2026. She was born July 5, 1947, in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Herbert and Lillian Mills.

Janet graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School. On December 30, 1967, she married James I. Hayden in Lafayette.

Janet worked for many years in the office and soup kitchen at St. Ann Catholic Church. She was a lifelong member of St. Ann Catholic Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Scott) Blacker; her granddaughter, Mia Irene Blacker, all of Lafayette; and her sister, Jewel (Don) Huffines of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her husband, James I. Hayden, and her son, James I. Hayden.

Private entombment will take place at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.

So sorry for your loss I always enjoyed seeing Jan weather we were walking by her house and stopping by to see her and Jim to talk or later seeing Jan and T & T (I know they will miss her) to enjoy a talk with her. We had also worked together at the Soup Kitchen getting there at 5:00 in the mornings to help dip the soup before I went on to work. She always was a joy to see in the mornings.
