James Michael “Mike” Decker, 51 of Lafayette, passed away on July 18, 2017.
Mike was born on November 17, 1965 in Ft Lee, VA to Stephen and Linda (Zarse) Decker of Lafayette.
He graduated from Bellmont High School in Decatur, IN and received his Associates degree in Computer Technology from Ivy Tech in Ft Wayne, IN.
He had worked in various companies in Lafayette and Indianapolis doing computer installation and repair. He also worked part time for catering companies in the Indianapolis area including the suites at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In the course of his catering position he met a US President, celebrities and race car owners and drivers.
He procured and setup the computer program for the St. James Food Pantry and was very active in the churches where he lived and worked. He enjoyed working with and on computers and especially helping people with computer problems.
Surviving with his parents are a brother, Timothy Decker (wife Julianne O’Leary); a niece, Abigail L. Decker and a nephew, Alexander L. Lazes all of Arlington Heights, IL.
Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of the service at 11:00 am on Monday, July 24, 2017 at St. James Lutheran Church at 800 Cincinnati St. Lafayette, IN with Pastor Peter Heckert and Pastor James Barton officiating. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.
