We are deeply saddened to share the news that Jaden Gage Harvey, age 17, of Oxford Indiana, passed away on September 18, 2023.
Jaden was born on September 29, 2005, and was raised by his father and best friend, Erik Harvey. The two of them were inseparable; you rarely saw one without the other.
If you knew Jaden, you’d know that he was a spirited and compassionate young man with a kind and gentle soul. He was extremely generous and would always put others before himself. He had a strong moral compass and was not afraid to stick up for family, friends and even strangers, when he believed they were being treated unfairly.
Jaden had a wide variety of interests. He was a passionate lover of all animals, but especially dogs. He was fortunate to have shared the lives of family pets Chloe, Eli, and Amos. He was also dedicated to working out and really enjoyed lifting weights. Jaden liked listening to lots of different types of music. His playlist included heavy metal, rap, rock, and indie-rock bands. His favorite artists changed daily. Like almost all teenagers, he was a fan of anime.
Jaden had a great sense of humor and could always make people laugh. He was a brave and strong-willed person who was unafraid to dive into a challenge. As a child, he jumped into a pool even though he didn’t know how to swim. He was an adventurous person and was well-traveled for someone his age. He’d flown by himself at age 10 to New York City and traveled on his own to California.
Jaden was a senior at Benton Central High School in Oxford. He recently joined the building-trades program, which unlocked a passion for creating something from the ground up. The project that the class was working on is a house in Fowler. It was there that Jaden discovered he loved working with his hands, and decided he knew what he wanted to do in the future.
In addition to his loving father, he is also survived by his grandfather Dave Harvey, his grandmother Sherry (Barnard) Shuck, his aunt Heather Harvey, his aunt Carmen Spence, his cousins Isabella Flynn and Miles Flynn, and countless other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his uncle Brandon Tinsman, his cousin Leo Flynn, his great-grandfather Dick Barnard, and his beloved dogs Chloe and Eli.
Jaden will be greatly missed.
