Jake was the funniest, craziest, and kindest person I have met at Cat. You never knew what to expect, but I'll always remember him yelling "Hi Karen" very loudly when I walked by his area in 3600, just to mess with me. I'll always appreciate how he would make us laugh, and the genuine concern he showed when he would hear about problems in your life. He had a huge heart and left us much too soon. I will miss him very much, and send my heartfelt prayers to his friends and family.

Extremely sorry for your loss.. Jake had a fantastic sense of humor and was one of the first people I ever met at Caterpillar. He and the team taught me how to work and have fun in the process. Never a time I didn't pass by and get a "hey bud". He will truly be missed by many.

I'm really going to miss this guy. 3600 assembly won't be the same for a long, long, time. We loved giving each other s**t. I will always remember the day I was walking down the aisleway in 3600, and it was the Monday after the Cubs had swept a weekend series. And I was giving him s**t the Friday before that the Cubs sucked. Well anyway .. I'm walking down the aisleway, minding my own business and a broom whooshed right in front of me. Broom.?? Sweep.?? and there was old Jake the Snake laughing his ass off. That's the stuff I am really going to miss. The place will never be the same. My heartfelt condolences to all of his family and friends. He definitely left his mark on this place.

We grew to expect seeing Jake every day and are saddened to find that will no longer be the case. Our condolences go out to the family during this extremely difficult time. We will certainly miss his influences, lively nature, sense of humor, and perspective that made Jake unique and endearing. Always prepared to make a comment in fun simply to see what kind of response he would get, I believe he expected the same the next moment when he would caringly ask how a family member was doing. I know I left confused and chuckling more than once over the years. Avoided by some, respected by many, missed by all. When we do something that would have driven Jake to respond, it will still ring out even if only in memory.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Tim, I am so sorry to read about the loss of your son. I cannot imagine the suffering and pain you must be feeling at this time.
Jeff Howard left a message on February 4, 2022:
Jake was a good friend and had a way of listening to your troubles and make them less burdensome. He made the early morning weekend overtime shifts a lot more fun. One of his favorite sayings during training when we were working as fast as we could was "You guys need to go faster" meaning that our hands were were working faster than our brains. We got the lesson when we had to tear the engine back apart after we forgot a step. There were other sayings about a bull and his son that would be less appropriate to post. The world is certainly a less lively place without him.

Tim and Britney our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Slim was a great man and even better friend! Slim and I had some wild times together and he was always the one to keep us straight. I believe slim and I still hold the record for # of carts pushed by two people at pay less by the mall! Julie will always remember her and slim dominating euchre tournaments at BW3’s. Slim was always respectful to my family and my boys enjoyed fishing with slim. Slim I know your are still casting lines and ripping lips up there buddy. Some day again you and I will sit on the bank you with your Mountain Dew and me with a beer and drown some worms. I know you hated country music but I will leave with the quote from a country song by Hardy “give heaven some hell” which we know you will. We love you buddy.

Jake and I worked together at Cat. He was one of those guys that always had time to stop and see how you were. He never passed up the opportunity to crack a joke either. Going to miss having him around.

I am so sorry for your loss and heartbreak. Jake was such a great friend to Kelley, Sean and Erik. He was like a son to Mike and I. He will be missed dearly. I will miss my driveway alarm going off at 6:00 a.m. up at the River. Only to see Slim out fishing. Fly high my son till we meet again ?

Oh Slim...its been awhile, but it feels like just yesterday we had our 'no sleep' conversation. Running into you all those years ago @ the batting cages was definitely a game changer. 3 days of you trying to convince me to play co-ed softball turned into an amazing friendship. I will cherish the memories of the bonfires, bowling nights and what u, eventually, called ur "wakey wakey" 6am text messages ON A SATURDAY...just to show me a fish you caught! Thank you for being my friend, putting thousands of smiles on my face, laughter in my life and being a kind soul.
