Gerald B. Beeker, 73, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at BeeHive Home.

He was born August 13, 1948, in Lafayette, to the late Robert and Rose (Mathes) Beeker.

Gerald attended Jefferson High School.

He proudly served in the Army and the Air Force

On December 21, 1969 he married Janet Lashbrook. She preceded him in death on august 1, 2021.

Gerald worked at ALCOA for several years before retiring.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Project Starfish at the YMCA, coached, volunteered and directed Special Olympics in Lafayette for several years. He also coached softball and swimming and enjoyed bowling in the ALCOA League.

Surviving is a daughter, Brooke Richards, son, Bryan Beeker and a sister, Janet (Michael) Igo all of Lafayette. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Jayden Richards and Joslyn Conrad.

Gerald was preceded in death a brother, David Beeker.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West, West Lafayette, with Rev. Joseph Park Jr. officiating.  Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the YMCA.

He will be dearly missed. He helped people with disabilities in swimming achieve their goals. I wish I could have project starfish and getting at the YMCA. That really helped kids with disabilities. You were the best swim coach ever. Special Olympics swimming it's just not the same without you. Matt kinelski was a swim coach for a while. You need to find another Special Olympics swim coach as good as you were.
