Elise Dorothy Forster, 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 28, 1927, to the late Adolf and Elise (Kinzler) Bruning. She married Fred Albert Forster on October 23, 1949, at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brooklyn.
They lived in Brooklyn; Huntington, NY; Mexico City, Mexico; Scarsdale, NY; Miami, FL; Hong Kong, BCC; retiring in Flat Rock and Hendersonville, NC. Elise moved to Lafayette, IN, following the death of her husband.
They reared two sons, Richard (Rick) and Kenton (Kent). Twin daughters Laura and Lisa died shortly after birth in 1960.
She and Fred were always active in the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, wherever they lived. Elise had taught Sunday School, sung in the choir, served in the women’s group, and, while in Hong Kong served for seven years as the administrative assistant to the junior high school at the Hong Kong International School (affiliated with their church).
In her later years, Elise prayed daily for her family and friends around the country.
Elise was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and twin daughters, and survived by her loving family: sons, Rick (Lois) Forster of Lafayette, IN, Kent (Jean) Forster of Oak Ridge, TN,; sister, Janet Lieberman of New Hyde Park, NY; grandchildren, Pete (Wendy) Forster, Christa (Ben) Hulin, Bethany (Elliot) Hartje, Jacob (Kimberly) Forster and Stefanie (Jason) Simons; and five great grandchildren.
Burial will be at the Memorial Graden at Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, NC.
