Barbara T. Buckles, 78, of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Franciscan Health  East.

She was born December 28, 1943, in Lafayette, to Lorraine (Egan) Hanthorn and the late Roy E. Hanthorn.

Barb graduated from Central Catholic High School and worked as a teller for Lafayette Bank and Trust for many years.

She was an active member of St. Ann Catholic Church and Shrine and taught Sunday school there.

Barb enjoyed Purdue basketball, the Cincinnati Reds, playing softball in her younger days and working in her flower gardens.

Surviving with her mother, are her children, Rodney Chupp of Linden, Brian Chupp of Lafayette, Lisa (husband Ron) Mitchell of Muncie and Sammy Buckles of Lafayette, brother, Daniel (wife Linda) Hanthorn of Shadeland, sister, Cathy (husband Steve) Daniel of Lafayette, sister, Patsy (husband Alan) Greensburg of Indianapolis and brother, Roy Hanthorn of Lafayette. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Tyler and Meagan Chupp and two great grandchildren, Huxley and Leo Chupp.

Barbara was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Chupp, a brother, Paul Hanthorn and two sisters, Dorothy Schultz and Mary Ann Morrison.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, March 21st  at Soller- Baker Funeral Home, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette with a Rosary service starting at 4:45 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at St. Ann Catholic Church in  Lafayette.  Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Lafayette.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Mathew 25 Soup Kitchen.

We just learned about Barbara's passing away. My wife and I became friends of Barbara when she worked at the bank. She has brought us so much joy. She and I would go back and forth teasing each other as I was a University of Illinois fan and she was a Purdue fan. yet we both were Reds fans. We would run into each other at our favorite place, The Other Pub. We worked back in the day at Lafayette Bank and Trust and remained friends. She was an amazing and caring woman and I am glad that I got the chance to meet and know her. She is my aunt through marriage on my moms side. I am so happy that she is no longer in pain. But it is a sad day to lose her. We will meet again one day.
