Barbara Ann Coopman, 88, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, at The Springs in Lafayette.  She was born June 1, 1934, in Linden, IN, to the late Forest and Marie (Martin) Guard.  Barbara graduated Linden High School in 1952 and attended Purdue University.   On April 15, 1955, she married Harold “Sonny” Coopman in Linden and he preceded her in death on April 11, 2015.  Barbara worked at the Underwood Insurance Agency for 13 years and retired in 1990.  Barbara enjoyed family meals, going to casinos and playing Bridge.

Surviving are her children Debra Coopman of Louisville, KY, Keith (Deanna) Coopman of Lafayette, grandchildren Bridget Wilkinson, Brittany Coopman, Ashley Carte, Bradley Coopman, Tiffany Williamson, Cody Vaught, Kayla Russell, Kellen Vaught and many great grandchildren.  Also surviving is her sister Phyllis Austin of Lafayette.  Barbara was preceded in death by her son Ross L. Coopman and siblings Tim Guard and Patty Waltz.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 10:00 am on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Dale Waltz officiating.  Interment will be at Linden Cemetery in Linden, IN.

Barbara and Sonny were our neighbors for many years on windmill drive. I enjoyed chatting with Barbara on warm days as I took my walk and she either was sitting on front porch or working in the yard...even in the years she used a walker and/or a cane to get around. She had lots of tenacity! Both your parents always had a smile for everyone.
