Willard E. Baxter, 96, of Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus.
He was born July 1, 1922, in Wolcott to the late Orville and Opal (Wooden) Baxter. Willard attended Remington High School. On October 2, 1943, he married Agnes Vogel in Orlando,FL.
He was a veteran of the Army serving in WWII, was a member of American Legion Post #11, and was a member of the ALCOA 25-year club. He was a member of St. Boniface Church where he was an Eucharistic Minister. Willard worked as a Laborer for ALCOA for 46 years. Willard enjoyed working in his yard.
Surviving are son, Ronald R. (Marcia) Baxter of Lafayette; granddaughter, Kristine R. Stine; grandson, Kevin M. Baxter; great-granddaughter, Marissa R. Stine; great-grandson, Brett M. Stine; great- granddaughter, Nicole H. Baxter.
Willard was preceded in death by wife, Agnes M. Baxter; infant granddaughter; grandson-in-law, Steven M. Stine; sisters, Mildred Wortley and Marge Doyle; and brother, Keith Baxter.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00pm, Friday, January 4, 2019 at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette Chapel with Father Mark Walter officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Lafayette, IN.
Memorial Contributions may be made to: St Boniface Catholic Church.
