WEST POINT ? Wanda L. Burton, of West Point, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at Creasy Springs Health Campus.
She was born Aug. 27, 1930, to the late Margaret F. Shaw and Harold W. Leslie.
She graduated from Monitor High School.
She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, and being outdoors. She liked to play cards, was active in her local Home Ec Club, and loved living the farm life.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Charles G. Burton; a sister Janet Leslie of Monticello; her daughter Karla J. Welchans (husband: Steve) all of West Point.
Also survivng are two grandchildren, Adam N. Welchans (wife: Kristina) and Ashley R. Welchans; and two great-grandchildren, Mitchell T. Jorczak and Reece S. Welchans all of West Point.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Officiating will be Chaplain Sherry Mugg. Services will be Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at 10 a.m. both at Soller- Baker Lafayette Chapel. Burial at Sherry Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the West Point Volunteer Fire Department 4949 State Rd. 25 South West Point, IN 47992.

Wanda was married to my cousin Charles. She was always gracious to me and had a soothing presence.

I remember a time when we were young and I was bemoaning the fact that I did not have a good sun tan. She gave me a smile and said, ""Well, you can ride the tractor and then you will get a tan!"" I declined the offer but I remember it with fondness...

I will miss her but I will remember her always.
