Walter Eugene Bader, passed away peacefully at St Anthony Nursing Home on April 8th at 2:15 am. Born April 19th, 1942 to his parents Howard and Orlena Bader.  He was a wonderful man who was loved by many people. Every time Walt went somewhere, he always ran into someone he knew. He was a big sports fan loving the Celtics, Dodgers, Cowboys and Purdue. He retired from the City Sanitation Department after 49 years. Walt had a big family which was very important to him. He is survived by his wife Beth Bader as well as his 10 kids, Charlie, Audrey, Jason, Nikki, Brian, Troy, James, Jenelle, Trevor, and Jaclyn, his brother and sister Cheryl and Bud. He had 23 grandkids and 11 great grandkids. He was preceded by his brother and sister Gordy and Judy also his grandson Jason. Donations would be accepted by the family. The showing will be held on Wednesday, 4/14/2021 from 5-8 pm. The funeral will be on Thursday, 4/15/2021 at 2 pm all at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, 400 Twyckenham Blvd, Lafayette, IN 47909.

This name brought back memories of the mid 1950's. I lived at 302 S 31st and as kids we played baseball in a lot on Earl Ave owned by the Emory Family. Walt and another bigger boy played there with us sometimes. He was there because of a girl in the neighborhood. At my age names come and go but his name rang thru clear. Sorry for your loss, glad to see he had a good life.
