Virginia (Ginny) Wisler of West Lafayette, IN passed away March 15,2020 after a brief illness (not Coronavirus). She was born on 12/14/1936 to George and Pauline Troup. Her siblings Don (Marcia), John (Pat, deceased), and Judy (Dalton Mead) survive. She grew up in the Elkhart Indiana area where she was an active member of the Osceola Church of the Brethren. She graduated from Jimtown High School in 1954. She graduated from the South Bend Memorial School of Nursing in 1957 with her RN. She married the love of her life, Eugene Wisler, on 7/1/1961. Their daughter Lisa (husband Bob Wright) was born the following spring. Eugene passed away in 1983.
Virginia lived her life caring for others, as a nurse, a wife, a mother, a school cafeteria cook, and as grandmother to John and Daniel (Mikayla) Wright. She moved to the Lafayette area shortly before her grandsons were born and was a nurse on the Rehab unit at Home Hospital until she retired.
In her retirement Virginia enjoyed dancing, travel, and many crafts. She attended Grace Lutheran Church. She continued to serve others as she ran the store at the Friendship House for many years, helping to assure that residents could conveniently purchase food and essentials.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM Thursday, July 16 at West Lafayette Soller-Baker Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 2 PM. Family requests the wearing of masks. Graveside services will be at the Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend, IN on July 22.
