Virginia C. Wehrle, 79, of Lafayette died Thursday, June 2, 2016 at IU Arnett Hospital. She was born July 2, 1936, in Lafayette to the late Herman and Eva F.Hinders. Virginia graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1954 and Lafayette Business College. On September 2, 1956 she married William Wehrle in Lafayette and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2005. Virginia worked as an Operator for GTE for 30 years and retired in 1990. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Eagles Ladies Aux., Grandmothers Club and the Livewires. Virginia enjoyed bingo and spending time with her family and cat “Buttons”. Surviving are her daughters Lori Shomaker (Kevin) of Chalmers, Kim Eads (companion Jimmy Wenrick) of Lafayette, grandchildren Jesse (Ashleigh) Young, Greg (companion Augustina) Wright, Ashley (Michael) Schmitt, Chad (Tonya) Young, Bob Young, Ashley White, Amanda (Jason) Balser, Josh (fiance Mandy) Eads, Kayla (fiance Blake) Eads, Ariya Eads, Keiley Eads and 14 great grandchildren. Also survivng is her sister Eva Ruth Traznik (Emil) of Grayslake, IL. Virginia was preceded in death by grandson Blake Eads. Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Service will be 11:00 am Tuesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Those wishing may contribute to the Grace Lutheran Church or Almost Home Humane Society in Virginia’s memory.
