Vickie Dianne Ward, 61, passed into the arms of Jesus on Jan. 5, 2014. She was born on Dec. 31, 1952 to Paul V. and Beverly J. Crowder. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971 and St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 2000. Vickie worked at Cargill in Lafayette for 10 years and spent the last 6 years as a RN for Anthem. As a devoted mother and friend she had an infectious laugh and a sense of humor that all around her will miss. She had an artist's eye for home décor and a passion for flower gardening and design. She also had a great appetite for life, family, friends, Arni's and Diet Coke from Igloo. Her daughter Heather was her best friend and closest companion. They had a mother-daughter bond like no other. One of Vickie's greatest joys was her grandson Owen. They enjoyed weekly outings, corn dogs, sleep-overs and movie premieres. He will miss her terribly. She is survived by son Christopher Ward, daughter Heather Toro (Carlos), mother Beverly Norton all of Lafayette, father Paul Crowder, sister Terry Crowder both of Monticello, brother Denny Crowder (Judy) of Oxford, FL., and grandchildren Elisa, Kiara, Owen, Violet Toro. Also surviving are nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Kristina and an infant brother, Ricky, grandparents Russell and Louise McCall, Allie Roland, and step father Walter Norton. Visitation 5-8 pm Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Service 1 pm Friday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Rev. Dawn Bodi officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
