Verlen Dean Wiggins, 92, of West Lafayette, died 8:17 am at IU Health Arnett Hospital Thursday, February 26, 2015. He was born February 19, 1923, in Tippecanoe County, to the late Rudolph Stanford and Hazel Bryan Wiggins. He graduated from Klondike High School in 1941. He married Wilma Irene Baer on June 20, 1947 in Lafayette. Dean served in the United States Navy Construction Battalion (SeaBees) from 1943-1946 during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a member of Octagon Masonic Lodge #511, Tippecanoe County Masonic Past Masters Association, Hope Chapter #5 O.E.S., Lafayette High Twelve #99 and National Federal Craft #94. He farmed in Tippecanoe County for 40 years and retired in 1986. Surviving are his Wife, Wilma Irene Wiggins, son, Ronald Dean Wiggins (Karen), daughter, Judith Kay Black (Bill), daughter, Terri Elaine Venable (Mike),sSon, Kregg Steven Wiggins (Jeanine), son, Layne Kent Wiggins (Paula) and a sister, Jean Bell. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.Visitation will be 5pm-8pm Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West, West Lafayette 47906. Masonic Services at 7:30 given by Masonic Lodge #313 Battle Ground. Funeral Service will be 10am Monday, March 2, 2015 at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Tim Burchill. Burial will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Wiggins. Those wishing may contribute to St. Andrews United Methodist Church or the charity of donor's choice.
