Vera E. Idle, 90, of West Lafayette passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus. She was born October 27, 1925 in White County, IN to the late Harry S. and Alfreda Brehmer Buschman. During WWII she worked for General Electric in Ft. Wayne and volunteered with the USO. On November 27, 1947 she married Kenneth L. Idle in Reynolds and he preceded her in death in 1993. She was member of the First Christian Church and was a Deacon and Elder Emeritus. Vera was Past President of CWF and volunteered for LUM. She was also a member of PEO. Vera enjoyed reading, needlework and playing bridge. She had worked for Lafayette Life Insurance Company in the clerical department and was a teacher’s aide at Mintonye Elementary School. Surviving are her children Marsha A. Hill (Louis) of West Lafayette, Marilyn J. Vanderpan (Robert) of Oregon, WI, Greg Idle (Cheri) of Montgomery, TX, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Alice Bir of Alexandria, IN. Vera was preceded in death by a grandson, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be from 10:00 am Friday until the time of service at 11:00 am at First Christian Church, Rev. Greg Eberhard officiating. Entombment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to CWF at First Christian Church or Lafayette Urban Ministries.
