Thomas Wilson Vaughan, 60, of Lafayette passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at his residence.
He was born February 20, 1957 in Lafayette to Jeanne (Wilson) Vaughan of Lafayette and the late Jack N. Vaughan.
Tom graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1976 and attended Purdue University.
He worked at ALCOA for 31 years, serving at one point, as the President of the Union, before retiring in 2010.
Tom loved football playing for the Lafayette Generals and Indianapolis Stars semi-pro leagues as well as coaching those teams and teams in the area including; the Little Gridiron, and high school and jr high teams that his sons played on. He enjoyed playing golf and boating.
Surviving along with his mother are two sons, Tom Vaughan of Jacksonville Beach, FL and Nick Vaughan of Wilmington, NC; two brothers, Jack W. Vaughan of Charleston, WV and Vint W. Vaughan of Denver, NC as well as a sister, Jeanne V. Walker of Gainesville, GA.
Friends may call from 2:00 pm until the time of the memorial mass at 4:00 pm on Friday, July 14, at St Mary Cathedral. with Fr. Gerald Borawski officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers those wishing may contribute in Tom’s name to the Central Catholic Athletic Association at PO Box 5609 Lafayette, IN 47903 for assistance with the purchase of new goal post at LaRocca Field.
