Stephen A. Jones, 68, of Monticello died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Indiana University Health Arnett after a two year battle with cancer. He was born August 25, 1944, on Nantucket Island, MA, to Al Jones of Lafayette and the late Florine Bryant. Steve graduated from South Bend Washington High School and attended Indiana University and Purdue University. On January 15, 1966, he married LaTreva Taylor in Lafayette and she survives. Steve ended his 34 year career as Director of Marketing at TRW/Ross Gear and retired on April 7, 2000. His passion was spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren's actvities. Steve enjoyed hunting, fly fishing, photography, antiquing, painting, SCUBA diving, woodworking and karaoke. He worked extensively on his family's geneology and relied on his “Dawson Faith”. He was on the Board of Directors for SFLECC and was instrumental in forming the “Proud to Be An American” boat parade on Lake Freeman. He volunteered with the Purdue IU Health Arnett Advocacy Program through Horizon Oncology Center. Surviving, along with his wife, are his children Scott & Carmen Jones, and Rob & Stephanie Jones, of Lafayette; grandchildren Kelsi & Scott Emery, Sara & Billy Van Alstine, Whitney Jones, Brock Jones, Clay Jones, Madison Jones and two great grandchildren Myra and Chaisen Emery. Also surviving are his brothers Doug Jones (wife Betsy) of Lafayette, Greg Jones (wife Dawn) of Otterbein, a sister Brenda Poer (husband Bruce) of Otterbein and step mother Norma Jones of LaPorte. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Friday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Celebration of Life service at 7:00 PM at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel.
