She was born March 6, 1945, in Camp Shelby, MS, to the late Boyd D. Malm and Jerry Lee (Cooper) Malm.
On May 20, 1972 she married her husband of 44 years, Harold Thomas “Tom” Switzer at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette.
Sherry graduated from Point Loma High School, San Diego, and majored in Professional Writing at SDSU. She was a night dispatcher at the Lafayette Police Department for 5 years. She worked at Purdue in Building Construction Management as a Secretary and retired as a Professional Assistant after 20 years. Until recently she was the Office Manager of the BCM National Honor Society, Sigma Lambda Chi. Sherry enjoyed extensive traveling to see family and friends and participating in car shows with her husband Tom. Spending quality time with her 11 grandchildren was a daily priority.
Sherry is survived by her husband Tom and their children, Andy Switzer (Kim) and Julie Boutelle (Corey) both of Lafayette, her brother, Boyd D. Malm (Cherri) of San Diego, CA, as well as grandchildren, Jonah, Isaac, Vivian, Elijah, Sarah, Samuel and Tobias Switzer, Gavin, Ethan, Embree and Aiden Boutelle. She will be lovingly remembered as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Sister-In-Law, Aunt and Friend–A Woman who thought more of others than of herself, a rare quality indeed.
