Shannon Sue (Graves) Withers, 60, of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at her home with her husband John by her side.
She was born September 2, 1964, in Lafayette, IN, to Richard and the late Betty (Strong) Graves.
Shannon graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School, class of 1982 and attended Purdue University.
On March 19, 1988, she married John Withers in Lafayette and he survives.
Shannon retired from the Tippecanoe County Recorder’s Office after serving 25 years with the county in the Auditors Office, Treasurers Office and the Recorders Office. She was elected to two terms as County Recorder.
Shannon was a member of the Christian Reformed Church where she served as a deacon and was a Sunday School teacher. She served on the Advisory Board of the Heartford House Child Advocacy Center. She was a member of Tippecanoe County Republican Women’s Club and was voted Tippecanoe County Republican Club “Women of the Year” in 2018.
Shannon loved spending time around the pool with family and loved hosting parties at the house. She was known for her freshly baked cookies. She also enjoyed her home in Florida and riding around on the golf cart.
Surviving is her father, Richard Graves of Lafayette, husband, John Withers of Lafayette, children, Brandon (Tonia) Withers of Lafayette, Kyle (Brandy) Withers of Brookston, Lauren (Ryan) Luttrull of Zionsville, and Ryan (Sarah) Withers of West Point. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Landon, Carter, Kayleigh, Dex, Ross, Marshall, Everly and Rosalie. Shannon has two brothers, Richard (Kathi) Graves II of Pittsboro, and Dennis W. (Theresa) Graves of Lafayette, and a sister, Stefanie K. (Chris) Black of Lafayette.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, December 16th at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 also at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with Rev. Chris Black officiating. Entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.
