S. Jane Lane, 87, of Shelbyville, formerly of West Lafayette, died at 10:20 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Morristown Manor in Morristown.
She was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Gary, to the late A. V. “Abe” and Lois Fuller Martin. She was in the Navy from Sept. 23, 1943, to March 5, 1946.
Mrs. Lane graduated from Purdue University in 1950 with a BA in Home Ec.
On July 31, 1948, she married Lawrence C. Lane Sr. in Gary. He died Oct. 12, 2006.
She was a member of Tri Kappa, John Purdue Club and was a life member of the Purdue Alumni Association. She was an avid reader, Chicago Cubs fan, and a fan of all things Purdue.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Marshall (husband: Jim) of Shelbyville; three sons, Lawrence C. Lane Jr. (wife: Leanne) of Salem, S.C., Gregory M. Lane of Oviedo, Fla., and Timothy M. Lane (wife: Cheryl) of Maitland, Fla.
Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Deacon and Sara Marshall, Ashley, Mary Charles, Lawrence C. III, Martin and Christian Lane. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert C. Martin.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011, at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Pkwy. W. West Lafayette, with Mr. Bob Fish officiating.
