Ruby G. Martin, 91, of Lafayette died Monday, March 2, 2015 at Creasy Springs Health Campus. She was born October 5, 1923, in Lafayette to the late Ray and Opal Mears Smith. Ruby graduated from Delphi High School in 1942 and on June 12, 1942 she married Gordon “Pokey” Martin in Lafayette and they had celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary before his death in 2006. Ruby worked at Sarge Biltz and then Arnie's for 20 years retiring in 1996. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 11 Aux. and FOE 347 Aux. She enjoyed her home, yard and flowers. Ruby liked walking her dog, sunshine and spending time with her family. Surviving are her children Carol A. Gilbert (Ronald), Michael C. Martin all of Lafayette, grandchildren Rhonda Pendleton (Kevin), Amber Martin (Companion John), Tad Martin, Ryan Gilbert (Danielle), great grandchildren Brad, Kyle, Amanda Pendleton, Maryn and Avery Gilbert, Mikayla, Auston, Logan and Kaylee Martin. Ruby was preceded in death by an infant son and 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Visitation will be 12:30-2:30 PM Saturday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Funeral Service will 2:30 PM Saturday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Rev. Scott Mann officiating. Burial will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or Loving Heart Animal Shelter in Ruby's memory.
