Roy Kenneth Sloan, 89, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025 at his residence.
He was born October 31, 1935, in Indianapolis, to the late Kenneth and Lois (Cain) Sloan.
Roy graduated from Richland Township High School in 1953 and attended Ball State University.
He served in the National Guard and retired from General Telephone
On June 29, 1956, he married Judy Cox at the Williamsport Christian Church. She survives.
He has been a member of Brady Lane Church of Christ since 1965, the Tippecanoe Civil War Roundtable and the Indianapolis Post Card Club.
Roy enjoyed Civil War history, especially the Grand Army of the Republic, collecting coins and post cards, drawing, watching sports and auto racing.
Surviving with his wife, Judy Ann Sloan of Lafayette are four sons, Jeffrey Linn Sloan, Steven Wayne Sloan, Russell Kenneth (Allison) Sloan and John F. Sloan all of Lafayette. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Abby (Mavrick) Gutwein, Brant (Angela) Sloan, Emma Sloan, Joshua (Greta) Sloan, Jordan (Hanna) Sloan, Myles (Kayla) Holtsclaw, Aaron (Carli) Sloan and Matthew (Jalynn) Sloan as well as fifteen great grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by daughter in laws, Amy Sloan and Tamara Sloan, a grandson Travis Sloan, a brother, Dale Sloan and a sister, Vivian Berry.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the time of the service at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909 with Pastors, Jeff Keller and J. William Overbay officiating. Interment will follow at Meadow View Cemetery in Lafayette.
Memorial contributions may be made in Roy’s name to either Brady Lane Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
