Roy F. Smith, 76
Roy F. Smith, 76, of Lafayette, died at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 5, 1934, in Lafayette, and was the son of the late Roy and Louise Dumas Smith. He was a graduate from Lafayette Jefferson High school.
In 1956 he married Patricia Ann Button, and she died Nov. 12, 1997.
Mr. Smith worked at National Homes as an estimator for 29 years. He then was employed by the state of Indiana as a fire and building code inspector and retired as an assistant of code enforcement.
He enjoyed time with his family and grandchildren, camping, fishing, euchre, coin collecting, softball, bowling, mushroom hunting and traveling.
Surviving are two daughters, Angela L. Delp (husband: Larry) of Lafayette and Susan D. Marsell (companion: Greg Lindeman) of Tolono, Ill.; and three sons, Michael R. Smith (wife: Deb), James A. Smith (wife: Nancy) and Ryan C. Smith (companion: Crystal Franks), all of Lafayette.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Josh, Matthew, Vince, Casey, Amber, Cole, Stephanie, Austin and Kyler; and 2 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a grandchild, Zachary.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Celebrant Carla Ellis officiating.
