Ronald A. Gordy, 76, of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. He was born February 23, 1942, in Decatur, IL, to the late Lester and Freida Toole Gordy.
On November 16, 1963, he married Barbara Darlene Roe in Decatur, IL and she survives. Ron worked at Caterpillar for 33 years and at the time of his retirement, in 1996, he was the Supervisor in the Tool Design Department. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and WBCCI Airstream Club. He enjoyed traveling and lighthouses.
Surviving with his wife are his children Tammy S. (David) Zilz of St. Peters, MO, Scott M. (Kristine) Gordy of Prattville, AL, grandchildren Rebekah, Rachel, Paige, Leah and Matthew. Ron was preceded in death by a brother Jack Gordy and a sister, Jeanette Daugherty.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm on Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Pastor David French officiating. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette. In lieu of flowers family request memorial contributions may be made to: St. James Lutheran Church in Ron’s memory.
