Ronald A. Bales

Ronald Alex Bales, 85, passed away July 19, 2024, in Lafayette, IN.  Ron was born April 23, 1939, to Raymond and Loretta (Pastors) Bales.  He grew up on a family dairy farm near Kewaskum, WI.  He married Bonnie Kudek on November 3, 1962, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Campbellsport, WI. She survives.

Ron served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard.  Upon graduation from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Agronomy, Ron moved his young family to Momence, IL.  He worked at American Maize Seed Company thru the mid 1970’s.  The family then moved to Indiana when Ron began working as manager of Moews Seed Company in Boswell, IN.  Soon after he began his own small farming operation outside of Fowler, IN.

Ron and Bonnie enjoyed many years of square dancing, playing cards, traveling, visiting family and friends.  Ron cherished time spent with his family.  He was a proud owner and life-long fan of the Green Bay Packers.  He also enjoyed reading, agriculture, nature, wildlife, the great outdoors and was able to fix anything.

Surviving, along with his wife of 61 years, are his children Rebecca (Jonathon Caron) of West Lafayette, IN; Brian (Rebecca Powell) Monticello, IN; Andrea of Brownsburg, IN; grandchildren Claire, Jacob, Joseph, Catherine Faith, Jedidiah, Morgan, Jenna and a great granddaughter Kensleigh.

Also surviving are his siblings Allen (Sue) Bales of West Bend, WI, Mary Jane Moths of Turlock, CA and several nieces and nephews.  Ron was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Bales and a sister-in-law Marilyn Bales.

Visitation will be from 11:30 am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in West Lafayette.  Fr. David Buckles officiating.  Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fowler, IN.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National FFA at www.ffa.org or a charity of your choice.
