Roger L. Lawrie, 70, of Lafayette, passed away at 1:00 am Saturday, April 30, 2016 at his residence.
He was born December 30, 1945, in Monticello.
Roger graduted from Roosevelt High School in 1963, received his Bachelors from Indiana State University in 1967 and his Masters degree from Purdue University in 1974. Roger was a teacher at Tecumseh Middle School where he coached basketball and football before retiring in 1981. He then went to work for Tate and Lyle as a technician retiring in 2009.
On June 27, 1986 he married Jeanne L. Pearson in Lafayette and she survives.
Roger was an lifetime Chicago Cubs fan, as well as the Colts, Purdue Basketball and NASCAR and enjoyed reading and playing golf.
Surviving along with his wife are son, Scott Lawrie, daughters, Jill Moore and Heidi Temple all of Lafayette, grandchildren, Ryan, Jayce and Brody as well as eight others.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Foreville, his father, Arthur Lawrie and mother and step father, Dorothy and Kenneth Heimlich.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 7:00 pm on Wednesday May 4, 2016 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with Chaplain Tom Covington officiating.
Those wishing may contribute in Roger’s name to either the Wounded Warrior Project or Shriners Children’s Hospital.
